Another month! Another Six Degrees of Separation!

Six Degrees of Separation is a fun meme run by Kate at booksaremyfavouriteandbest where she gives us bloggers a title to start from, and we see where the title takes us! This meme is a lot of fun, and I’m always interested to see where this meme takes us all!

This month we’re headed to that glorious place of Wonderland with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Let’s start there, shall we? (And no cute graphic this month cuz life had other plans for me for the month of October, which is also why this post is a bit delayed.)

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

 I don’t suppose I need to put the synopsis in for this read this month, do I? If you haven’t read the book, no doubt you are familiar with the story because of the Disney cartoon, or for various other reasons. I love the story (I dressed up as Alice one year for Halloween), and love the cartoon, but most of all I love the Disneyland ride that is based off the cartoon. A Disneyland ride is the link to my first selection this month!

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

 Another Disneyland ride I love, which happens to be right around the corner from the Alice ride, is Mr Toad’s Wild Ride, which is based on The Wind in the Willows. Mr Toad goes on a Wild Ride, and out of control cars takes me to my next selection!

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

 One of my favorite novels of all time! I love the image of Gatsby staring at the green light, and those ending lines are perfection. I really enjoyed the recent movie adaptation by Baz Luhrmann, and I loved Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal of Gatsby. Leo’s done so many great roles, and he’s the link to my next choice:

The Revenant by Michael Punke

 Ahh, the movie that finally got Leo his Oscar! I actually haven’t seen the movie, or read the book, but I know it’s set in the wilderness. A book I read that was set in the wilds of Alaska was:

Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod by Gary Paulsen

 Winterdance was an interesting read that is one man’s memoirs of training and running the Iditarod in Alaska. I learned a lot, but as a whole, I don’t think wilderness reads are quite my thing! One wilderness read that I recently read that I did enjoy was:

North to the Orient by Anne Morrow Lindbergh

 My review of this travel memoir will be coming soon, but this was a lovely read that talks about the Lindbergh’s flight along the Great Circle Route back in 1931. They flew in a floatplane, and landed in various out-of-the-way locations along the way and met lots of interesting people. This book was a joy to read, as was my next choice, which is about Anne Morrow Lindbergh:

The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin

 I loved this historical fiction read about the life of aviatrix and author Anne Morrow Lindbergh! This was a great read full of interesting information. We’ve all heard about Charles Lindbergh, but what about his wife, Anne?

Well, there we are for this month! We went from Wonderland, to the Willows, to Jazz Age NYC, to the wilderness, and to adventures in a plane! Perhaps November will be an adventurous month!
