Welcome to a new feature on luvtoread called Reads on My Radar! This feature will be one where I spotlight various books that have come to my attention lately. Ones that I’ve either just added to my TBR, or recently purchased, or am thinking about reading. This will also give me a chance to give shoutouts to other bloggers, ramble on about books, and highlight some ARCs and new releases.
In all honesty, I’ve got a massive list of books that I’d love to read. Don’t we all? My Amazon WishList has hundreds, if not thousands, of titles to read on it. And that doesn’t include the books that I currently own, but have not read yet! I’m a bit obsessed with book bargain hunting, and love to attend library book sales and garage sales. So, since I’m unlikely to ever get to all of the titles I’d like to read, (so many books, so little time!) I thought I’d start mentioning them on this feature, Reads on My Radar, so that I can still discuss them on the blog! And maybe, just maybe, if I mention them on here, then someone will convince me that now is the time to read them! This feature won’t appear at any set time/day, basically just when I’ve got a list of ten books that strike my fancy.
Here we go with Volume 1 of Reads on My Radar!

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
It is high time I read this book! With all the publicity from the Hulu show, which is about to start season two, I’m reminded again that this is a book that I need to read. I already own this, but so far I keep pushing it further and further down the list of books to read. Why have I not read this yet?
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
I just recently purchased this book, and have been hearing rave reviews of it. I’ve heard that this would be a great book club book, and that’s why I purchased the book. I’m contemplating this title for my choice for my next book club selection! I think my choice is coming up this summer sometime. Will I read it before book club? I hope to dive into this one soon, as I’ve heard really amazing things about this title.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Look at that cover! How gorgeous is that?! I’ve fallen in love with African literature, and this YA fantasy is inspired by West African folklore, and I’m so excited to read this book! There was a great article in Entertainment Weekly recently, and I’m currently on the waitlist at my local library for this title. My expectations are sky-high for this, and I’m really hoping it does not disappoint.
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Here’s another classic that I have yet to read! The HBO movie, starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon (love them both!), premieres May 19th. I’m not likely to read the book before then, but this is a title that has been on my list for a long time, and I definitely want to read the book before watching the HBO movie.
The Hideaway by Lauren K. Denton
This title is my book club’s selection for this month. We meet at the beginning-ish of May, and so I need to get started on this read! I probably would not have picked this book up had it not been a book club read (it sounds a bit too sweet for me), so we’ll see how it goes. I’m on the waitlist for it from my library, but I doubt the title will be available by the time I need to read it, so I’ll probably end up purchasing this title.
The Kennedy Debutante by Kerri Maher
This is a recent ARC that I received from the publisher, Berkley, via NetGalley, and I am so excited to read this title! The Kennedy Debutante releases in October, and is about Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy. I recently read The Summer I Met Jack (review to come in late May!) about Alicia Corning Clark and JFK, and I’m now obsessed with anything having to do with the Kennedy’s. What a fascinating family! I can’t wait to start this one!
The Island by Victoria Hislop
I heard about this title from BookBub (I got an alert that it was a good deal on Kindle) and it sounds like a book I’d enjoy! Historical fiction, focused on Greece, WWII, leprosy, and with what sounds like might be a back-and-forth in time narrative. This title sounds amazing, and I’ve added it to my TBR!
Charles Jessold, Considered As A Murderer by Wesley Stace
I have no idea why this book was on my TBR list. It has an intriguing sounding synopsis, but I’ve had a wish for this book on PaperBackSwap for many years, and I finally got the title recently. I have zero recollection as to how I heard about this title, or if its any good, but it certainly sounds promising! My most recent addition to my library.
The Rain Watcher by Tatiana de Rosnay
Here’s another ARC that I recently received! Tatiana de Rosnay is the author of the riveting Sarah’s Key, and I’m so excited to read this title! The Rain Watcher will be published in October, and it’s got a gorgeous cover, and sounds like it’ll be one heck of a story. Super excited for this one!
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
This is one of those titles that I surely read when I was younger, but I want to read again! There’s a Masterpiece production coming out in May, and I’d love to have this book read before watching the miniseries.
So there it is, the first edition of Reads on My Radar! What do you think? And have you read any of these books? Please tell me if they are worth bumping up on my TBR list!
Great list, Ami! I’ve just received the ARC for The Rain Watcher as well and I really enjoyed The Island!

Thank you! I’m so excited about The Rain Watcher. It sounds great! I’m glad to hear that The Island was good – when I did my Goodreads link I noticed several bad reviews right at the top, so I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed it – it sure does sound amazing! 🙂

This is a great new feature! I love it, except … now I want to add all ten of these books to my own huge TBR list! Wel, maybe I can skate by with only nine as I have read Little Women several times in the past and, of course, love it. Really, I can’t believe you haven’t read it at least once – I thought there was a law or something.

hee hee 🙂 I’m sure that I’ve read Little Women… at some point… but is one that I can’t recall the book so much as I can recall the different movie adaptations – I love the June Allyson one the best!
