August is Harry Potter month for the Hype or Like Friday group I’m in over on Goodreads, and today’s question is an interesting one.  Be sure to look for my review of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child scheduled to post on Friday, August 26th.

Here’s the question for today’s discussion:

Imagine it’s the apocalypse, whatever magic is left in the Wizarding World is slowly diminishing, and you need to assemble a team to help you survive. Which 5 characters would you choose for your team, what roles would they play (i.e. Team Leader, Most Cunning, Most Skilled, etc.), and how would they help you survive. You can do whatever you want with this topic. Get creative and have fun with it.

Here are my choices:

Team Leader: Neville Longbottom. Kind. Brave. Good. The kind of person you want to follow. Plus he also knows all about plants and his knowledge would help us live off the land.

The Brains: Hermione Granger. Is there any puzzle she can’t figure out? Any spell she can’t work out? She’s just so darn clever!

The Strategist: Severus Snape. Every team needs to have that one who does the unmentionable, terrible things that must be done for survival. Snape would do them, take the fall when they went awry, and live with the consequences. When you fight battles, someone has to be willing to make difficult, unpopular decisions, and Snape’s my guy. He’s trustworthy, loyal to the cause, and gets things done.

 The Cool One: Kingsley Shacklebolt. This guy is just so cool. He oozes wizard glamour and I bet he’d have a bunch of fangirls trailing after him. And he’s got an awesome name. Plus, not only is he cool, but he has a foot in the door in politics, and he can fight with the best of them.

The Charmer: Ginny Weasley. Ginny can play the mind games, and she is also a very gifted witch in regards to charms. She’s got a wicked sense of humor – growing up with Fred and George will do that to a person! And she’s smart and brave. She’s on my team for sure!!

So there is my team. I think we’d do pretty good, although if magic is diminishing I’m not sure how long we’d last.  But I’m confident Hermione and Snape would come up with something!
